Harmonix may have moved on to Rock Band, but the Guitar Hero franchise still goes strong. The third Guitar Hero features online play, a great song list, and the best fake guitar money can buy. It actually came to Xbox Live last week, but I thought I\'d share it anyway. Both Blue Dragon and Ace Combat 6 have their own demos, but so do 2K Sports\' The BIGS, EA\'s Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and THQ\'s Stuntman: Ignition. Quite a bit to keep you busy if you don\'t have enough games already.

Guitar Hero 2 for the Xbox 360 introduces ten new songs, updates the PS2 graphics, and even revises some old songs in a very complete package. More than just a port, this version is a truly great and smart rethinking of the PlayStation 2 version. To determine how much enjoyment you will get out of either the face-melting new Xbox 360 version (or the old PS2 version, for that matter), you must wrestle with one of the most soul-bending questions of the ages: To Rock, or not to Rock? The story behind the first Eragon book, movie, and video game is an interesting one, starting with a home-schooled student that published his book at 19 years old. Now, with a movie that is being universally trashed by reviewers, the Eragon video game has come forward to redeem the franchise from embarrassment. Sadly, its repetitive gameplay and incoherent storytelling don\'t do Eragon much justice, portraying the world as nothing but an endless stream of bad guys with frustrating gameplay. The movie and book have been accused of being derivative of classics like Star Wars; the video game doesn\'t present a coherent enough story to be accused of being derivative of anything.

Yes folks, that\'s my summary of the craziness that is Dragon Ball Z. But despite that, it makes a pretty fun fighting game! And once you\'ll read this, maybe you\'ll understand why.

20th Century Fox has announced that they\'ll be releasing a number of Blu-ray movies just before the PS3 launch in November, including at least one dual-layer Blu-ray that clocks in at 50 gigabytes. According to their press release, Fox will be selling Behind Enemy Lines, Fantastic Four, Kingdom of Heaven (Director\'s Cut), Kiss of the Dragon, The Omen, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Speed, and The Transporter for $40 each. This means that buying each title on Blu-ray will cost you nearly three times what it does to buy the same title on DVD. Is it worth it to you?

Atari has announced that yet another title is under development for the Nintendo Revolution, this time a Dragon Ball Z game. In a press release earlier this morning, Atari announced Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 for the Revolution, saying that, \"The... controller featured with Nintendo Revolution is perfectly suited for Dragon Ball Z... which engages players with fast-paced fighting moves.\" Dragon Ball Z games on the current generation have mixed fighting with RPG elements to varying degrees of success. We\'ll see how that translates onto Nintendo\'s new platform.

Every once in a while, something that has to do with video game culture comes along that makes it onto the front page. Sometimes it\'s Mario fans hanging yellow question mark boxes around a paranoid town, and sometimes it\'s as simple as a comedy group that knows their gaming. In this case, it\'s a Google Video of a musical comedy group preforming a song called, \"Make You Happy Tonight.\" The musical tribute starts off innocent enough, but quickly turns into a theme every hardcore gamer will identify with. Or at least their significant others. Trust us that this clip is worth your time to listen to.

Game publisher Acclaim has risen from the ashes and is making a comeback. So far the publisher has two titles in the works: BOTS and 9 Dragons. BOTS is, obviously, a robot-based game which allows players to customize their metal men to their liking, purchasing new items online. These upgrades, which number in the hundreds, help make the BOTS undefeatable machines of mayhem as players compete with each other in the arena. This is the first from the company, which plans for many more. Oh, and did we mention that this is a totally FREE online game? Yep. Spyro: Shadow Realm is more than a little shady. In fact, it\'s all we can do to keep from making a dragon-doo joke. But this one is for the kids, so let\'s keep it clean. Spyro: Shadow Legacy is a deeply flawed game, with unfinished, glitchy gameplay. It doesn\'t take long for the game to get repetitive, and the fact that half of the game is just the first half with a different color palette doesn\'t help.
