Samurai Western
game: Samurai Western
review | 08/21/05 | Chris Martin
The third iteration of the Way of the Samurai series is Samurai Western, a stylish, hack-n-slash romp through ghost towns and saloons. It has the action, but can the Wasabi Western satisfy like a fine chop-socky chili?

Dungeon Siege II
game: Dungeon Siege II
preview | 05/22/05 | Eric Bodrero
There haven't been many really great hack-and-slash titles since Diablo II left the stage a few years back. While the classic franchise exited in fairly good form, it left behind a void that's been taken on by any number of competent top-down dungeon crawlers. While a number of these attempts were solid, we're still waiting for the title that will help us forget just how good Diablo was. Dungeon Siege II attempts to improve everything it's carried over from the first game, and wipe Diablo from your memory. Eric sits down to lay out some of the details about how they intend to do that.

Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade
game: Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade
review | 04/13/05 | Shawn Rider
Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade is a hack-and-slash dungeon crawling RPG that brings classic Diablo-style gameplay to your PSP. It's got great graphics, a deep character development system, and is pretty much a hoot to play with friends. But like so many RPG protagonists, it is as flawed as it is brilliant. Curse the darkness, or get the light right here.

Champions: Return to Arms
game: Champions: Return to Arms
review | 03/26/05 | George Holomshek
Top down hack-and-slash games are some of the most consistent in the game industry; if you like the genre, you can pretty much expect to have an equally good time with almost any game. Champions: Return to Arms comes to the stage as the sequel to Champions of Norrath, and finds itself burdened with the typical problems of the field; fun, but with limited depth. Still, with hours of gameplay and varied local, it's worth a look for anyone that can't get enough of smashing barrels and hunting for treasure by killing random wild animals. The Return of the King
game: The Return of the King
review | 12/07/03 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
EA's highly successful The Two Towers drew high praise from gamers for its cinematic drama and hack and slash action. It wasn't the most innovative treatment of the Tolkien classic, but it sure was fun to be a part of. The latest installment, Return of the King, looks to improve on that success, offering more characters, more cinematic feel, and best of all, multiplayer co-op. But can more hack and slash satisfy a Lord of the Rings enthusiast? With a single click, your quest for knowledge begins right here.

Chaos Legion
game: Chaos Legion
review | 10/01/03 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
Capcom's Chaos Legion storms its way into the gaming scene. Leading a legion of troops against 30+ enemies on screen at once, a little Devil May Cry, a little Dynasty Warriors, loads of hack and slash, and ultimately boring as hell. Eric tells us why right here.

Altec Lansing XA3021 Speakers Review
game: Altec Lansing XA3021 Speakers
review | 07/26/02 | Jeremy Kauffman
Altec Lansing is making a big push this year in the console gaming slash home theater arena. Their XA3021 speaker setup enhances your TV sound, adding some booming bass and nice mids and highs. At $100, this setup dominates its price range. Plus, that subwoofer looks like a bomb. How cool is that? Click here.

Shifters Review (PS2)
game: Shifters
review | 07/03/02 | Eric Qualls
3DO does it again. Shifters is a bad game, plagued with bad graphics, bad controls, glitchy play, and no real inspiration. The concept of a shapeshifting, \"cast & slash\" fantasy action game could have been pretty cool. But this isn\'t the game. Click here for more.

Shinobi Preview
game: Shinobi
preview | 06/23/02 | Jeremy Kauffman
He kills silently and bounces off walls like loonies in the nuthouse. Nope, it\'s not Tiny Twisted Metal Bumper Cars or Tenchu Stealth Maniacs -- this is even better. Shinobi returns for another slash at the videogame market, and thank goodness. Anyone who has touched the beauty of the classic arcade game knows that a new Shinobi adventure is a very, very good thing. Click here.

EDITORIAL - Sony Slashes Initial Offering
Articles Archive | 10/08/00 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
A couple of weeks ago, I suggested that you might want to wait before you jump on the Sony bandwagon. Now, it looks like you're not going to have much of a choice. Sony announced this week that they would be shipping only 500 000 units of their Playstation 2 for release on October 26th”half of their intended. Sony claims that it is due to a component shortage, but one can't help but wonder if they are trying to build a Tickle-Me-Elmo Christmas frenzy.
