game: E3 2005: Aeon Flux: A First Look

Aeon Flux has become a cult phenomenon. With a movie and a game launching almost simultaneously, we'll have enough fluxifaction to sustain even a city park full of fanboys (and girls). Brilliantly introduced in the first Fatal Frame, and refined with the introduction of the first-person view in Fatal Frame 2, the series is looking to once again scare gamers with Fatal Frame 3: The Tormented, due out later this year. Take a look at what the new title has to offer in this E3 preview.
game: Obscure
review | 05/21/05 | Laurie Taylor
Obscure is to survival horror games as Scream was to teen horror flicks. With a cool two-player co-op mode and a bargain basement price, this is one of those "sure to be a cult hit" games that some gamers are going to really enjoy, and others will probably find pretty decent. If you've played a lot of horror games, you should really check this one out. And don't let the Sum 41 put you off.

Capcom\'s Okami blends watercolor fluidity with a mythologized storyline to create a beautiful and immersive game. To get the full effect of the game\'s beauty, you have to see it in motion and actually try out the blend of action and painting, but you can get the next best thing in Laurie\'s preview.

game: Batman Begins
preview | 05/09/05 | George Holomshek
Movies and video games have not been incredibly kind to the Batman franchise over the years. While some of the blockbuster productions turned out to be better than others, fans of the series have longed for a darker, deeper look at what makes a man parade around in leather armor and a bat cap. Now, Batman Begins promises to give fans a glimpse of Batman's roots, and the game promises to have a much stronger stealth and fear element to it than past games. An all-new Batman seems to be hiding in the shadows, and we can only hope that the new one will be capable of kicking the old one's ass. Check out our preview for more details.

game: Brothers in Arms: The Road to Hill 30
review | 04/07/05 | Chris Martin
In a genre crowded with other titles based on similar concepts, how can a World War II FPS distinguish itself? In Brothers in Arms' case, you simply craft an experience with such detail and attention to the atmosphere of war that the player can't help but feel the bullets zipping by their head. Put aside all those other games that try to offer authentic WWII fighting experience; no one does the job quite as well as Gearbox Software's Brothers in Arms: The Road to Hill 30. Be sure to read the full review.

game: The Punisher
review | 03/02/05 | Monica Hafer
If you're looking for a night of good, clean fun, The Punisher is probably not where you want to start. This dark conversion of the comic-turned movie is another example of comic book plotlines making it to the small screen, and the result is a game that lets you torture bad guys until they spill the beans, but barely interact with pretty much anyone or anything else. Though there's some real talent in the production values, some serious lack of depth keeps it from being all the kick-ass it could be. Read the full review for details.
game: Second Sight
review | 02/23/05 | Chris Martin
It seems like a fundamental rule of thumb in video games: coma = amnesia and psychic powers. Few games execute the mystery and atmosphere of such creepy going-ons, though, as well as Free Radical's budget title Second Sight. It's atmospheric and story driven, and worth your money if you're looking for a game that will keep your interest. Read the full review to find out the details.
