game: Phantasy Star Collection
review | 02/16/03 | Matt Baldwin
Sega\'s venerable Phantasy Star series has found a home on a lot of consoles lately, but fans haven\'t forgotten the glory days of old school RPG enjoyment. Phantasy Star Collection packs more than a hundred hours of classic RPG gameplay on a GBA cart, which ain\'t bad at all. Click here.

Galerians: Ash Review
game: Galerians: Ash
review | 02/16/03 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
Sammy Studios brings us the sequel to their psycho future thriller, Galerians. Galerians: Ash drops you right into the aftermath of the first story with nary a hint at how to get going, so this is definitely one for the fans. A gripping storyline might draw you along in spite of lackluster gameplay. Definitely check the review. Click here.

James Cameron's Dark Angel Review (PS2, Xbox)
game: James Cameron's Dark Angel
review | 02/09/03 | Monica Hafer
It kind of seems like they quit working on James Cameron\'s Dark Angel when the television series was cancelled. That\'s too bad, because this is almost a good game. The fighting engine is deep, but overall shallowness of plot and gameplay makes this one for the DA fans and not many more. Click here.

Die Hard Vendetta Review (GC)
game: Die Hard Vendetta
review | 02/09/03 | Matt James
Good old Die Hard. You can never have too much terrorist-bashing smartass commentary to go with your action movie or game. To prove this point, Fox Interactive serves us up a big helping of Die Hard Vendetta, putting you in the role of John McLane once again. Click!

Impossible Creatures Review
game: Impossible Creatures
review | 02/09/03 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
Microsoft game studio Relic has put together an RTS title that should appeal to the Dr. Moreau in all of us. Impossible Creatures allows you to design your own units to use in battle (how about elephants with pincers? burrowing ant-tigers with electric stingers?). Click here.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Review (PC)
game: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
review | 02/05/03 | Eric Qualls
Ubi Soft has brought their super popular stealth action title to the PC, and Tom Clancy\'s Splinter Cell retains much of its initial appeal. Still one of the most beautiful games ever created, this game is packed full of good times, if you\'re a fan of the slow-paced, stealth-oriented, government intrigue type of gameplay. Click here.

INTERVIEW - Niel Wiser, President & Founder of UltraPrime Network
Articles Archive | 01/19/03 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
The Evolvers: A well selected name for what could constitute an entirely new perspective on massively multiplayer gaming. For years there have been videogames that have attempted to mimic the look and feel of Hollywood: vampire slayers, star trekkers, bounty hunters “ slews of voice actors trying to mimic other people in the name of a good videogame. It's amazing how rarely they succeed. Similarly, there are times when storylines built with the controls of a console or played out on the screen of the PC are used to produce a feature film. Resident Evil. Final Fantasy.

WWE Road to Wrestlemania X8
game: WWE Road to Wrestlemania X8
review | 12/22/02 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
Certainly the most horrible wrestling game we\'ve played this year, WWE Road to Wrestlemania X8 is a stinker that no wrestling fan wants to find in their stocking. Bad animation and bad controls ruin this game, although the retro Mortal Kombat vibe is kind of cool. Click here.

Hot Wheels Velocity X
game: Hot Wheels Velocity X
review | 12/22/02 | Eric Qualls
Leveraging their Hot Wheels property, THQ has released Hot Wheels: Velocity X. Built on the well defined futuristic race/combat model, this game is held up by dated graphics and terrible controls. For now you\'re better off in the toy aisle looking for Hot Wheels joy. Click here.

Ripping Friends Review
game: Ripping Friends
review | 12/22/02 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
John K\'s latest abomination is Ripping Friends, showing on Cartoon Network\'s Adult Swim. It\'s not a good cartoon: The titular friends are just grotesque Tick wannabes and it all feels like the boring parts of Ren and Stimpy rehashed. But that\'s a lot better than the game... Click here.

Zapper
game: Zapper
review | 12/22/02 | Jason Frank
We sent Jason to review both the GC and GBA versions of Zapper and what did we get? One review. It figures -- Jason can be difficult like that sometimes. But we can sympathize: It\'s hard to deal with mediocre games that cover well-trod territory and fail to really stand out in any way. Click here for the whole sad story.

Legaia 2: Duel Saga Review
game: Legaia 2: Duel Saga
review | 12/22/02 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
Legend of Legaia was a moderately successful RPG several years ago. Eidos\' Fresh Games has now brought the sequel, Legaia 2: Duel Saga, to the US, and it\'s not bad. It\'s got the requisite RPG elements, including the bunny-eared waitresses. But it\'s not great either, mainly because it\'s tough to escape the feeling that we\'ve been here, done this. Click!
