Game publisher Acclaim has risen from the ashes and is making a comeback. So far the publisher has two titles in the works: BOTS and 9 Dragons. BOTS pursues an unorthodox strategy: It is a completely free online multiplayer game. Rather than paying for a subscription, gamers purchase parts to upgrade their BOTS, allowing gamers to only spend as much as they\'d like on the game.

This is an innovative business strategy, spearheaded by Acclaim\'s new owner and CEO, Howard Marks. Marks is the man who helped revive Activision in the 1990s, putting the original third party publisher back on top of the gaming industry. Marks continues to see value in the Acclaim brand, which he acquired in August of 2005.
