game: Super Smash Bros. Brawl
news | 10/10/07 | Chris Martin
Several
poorly doctored videos have been circulating the interweb regarding the blue blur\'s inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. But t
oday, according to
Gemaga\'s Live Blog, and then re-reported by 1UP, Nintendo has rolled a new trailer for Super Smash Bros. Brawl with Sonic the Hedgehog \"jumping, spinning, and even turning into Super Sonic.\" I think Nintendo just sold another ten million Wii...

Sony announced today that their Dualshock will have a third iteration, complete with rumble feature and six-axis motion control. I guess there was enough room in there after all. Inside this article are a list of games that will work with the rumble feature, as well as some that will have software updates in order to take advantage of the new controller.
game: Halo 3 ActionClix
news | 09/19/07 | Chris Martin
If you can\'t get it, this crazy hype of Microsoft\'s, out of your head, we have the salvation for you. A \"little\" salvation. A \"tiny\" treasure. A \"diminutive\" diversion. Halo 3 just six days away, and Halo ActionClix invades your favorite hobby store. There\'s nothing small about it, this tabletop game is going to be huge.

While we here in Seattle get to watch the Mariners crumble in what was a pretty decent year, we also get front page Microsoft news, regularly. T
oday, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer
reported that the European Court of First Instance, in a move upholding key elements of the March 2004 European Commission Decision, declared the American company responsible for misusing it\'s Windows monopoly. Specifically, the company packages Windows Media Player with their Windows software,
a la trojan horse, allowing market dominance of the software. Microsoft to EU court: \"the decision on the Media Player opens a dangerous precedent for other companies and sectors. Airbus should start worrying about adding new features to their planes.\"
game: Sega Rally Revo
news | 09/17/07 | Chris Martin
So,
in case you missed it, I\'m pretty stoked about SEGA Rally Revo for Xbox 360. Some early reviews are in:
IGN UK gave it 8.8/10 and
EuroGamer gave it a 9/10. Knowing this makes me ache for it more. If you\'re thinking about picking up SEGA Rally Revo, it\'s officially out t
oday (09/17/07) in the UK--those in the US will have to wait until October 9th. And if you just want to check it out first, the Demo has just hit Xbox Live. At over half a gig, it\'s one of the smaller demos out there, but we\'ll let the gameplay speak for itself.
news | 08/07/07 | Chris Martin
Just arrived on Xbox Live today are two new demos. Eternal Sonata from Namco Bandai is likely to satisfy all those eager for a JRPG on Microsoft\'s console, and Vampire Rain, which is, something else entirely. I personally am excited for Eternal Sonata, as I haven\'t played a JRPG in some time and it looks fantastic from previews. I\'m less excited for the universally panned Vampire Rain, where you\'re an elite special forces unit sent to thin out the vampire ranks. Impressions forthcoming.
news | 08/07/07 | Chris Martin
Microsoft has made it official today that the Xbox 360 Premium will see a price drop of $50. Although for many this will seem old hat (as Microsoft is, apparently, no keeper of secrets), but it\'s nice to know anyway. The Core system will have a $20 price drop and the Elite will have a $30 price drop.
Microsoft also announced the pricing of their Halo 3 Special Edition (which features a sweet system: see article for pics) which will go for $399.99, the Premiums original price.
game: Halo 3
news | 08/01/07 | Chris Martin
I intentionally avoided, up until now, posting news about Halo 3 - pics notwithstanding - because, frankly, I don\'t care to learn about the levels or the neat gizmos the good Master Chief will be using this time around, ahead of time. They, to me, are spoilers. I am at the point where I just want to play the game for myself and be surprised. I am breaking my rule now because the latest news about Halo 3 steps beyond that broad line of \"developer hype.\" Today Bungie officially confirmed that Halo 3 will feature 4 player Co-op play over Xbox Live and System Link. It\'s that kind of important news that just needs to be boldface.
game: ToeJam and Earl
feature | 10/13/06 | Chris Martin
Two of the most beloved aliens of all time - sorry E.T. - ToeJam and Earl have been through a lot together: two sequels, multiple planets, and a lot of tough criticism. But we cast all that aside and look to the past today with the original ToeJam and Earl. What made the game so great? The tunes? The attitude? The Coop play? Try all of the above. The funky beat-boxing aliens have had their fill of Earth, and so has Chris as he\'s guided Earl all the way to level 25, found all 10 spaceship pieces, and thrown tomatoes at Earthings until they pop in this week\'s That Retro Review!
game: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner
review | 10/10/06 | Amanda Bateman
Raidou Kuzunoha the 14th, I order you to read this review. What do you mean you\'re not Raidou Kuzunoha? Well, we hate to break it to you, but you are now. After 10 years of Japanese market love and American cult phenomenon, Atlus finally shows the US some love with a timely North American release of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner, out today for PS2. Ever since we got our copy Amanda has been coming up with weird things like the intro to this blurb. Check out her review for the reasons behind her madness.
game: Robowarrior
feature | 10/07/06 | James Gardiner
RoboWarrior: a game with an unrecognizable title, perhaps, but a title of some great importance. For instance, RoboWarrior was partly responsible for the fall of the former Soviet Union; when Jaleco sent copies of it to civilians, there commenced massive riots and burnings of giant NES effigies in the streets! Don\'t bother looking that little tidbit of knowledge up in a history book, it\'s all part of a Soviet cover-up to keep it very hush hush. Today, the story of a man named ZED will be told!

game: Myst
feature | 09/15/06 | Chris Martin
One of the most influential games of its era, Myst is a game where you can\'t die, you can\'t turn around (much) and you really can\'t walk away from its awesome puzzles. When it was released in 1993, it ushered in a new type of genre, the adventure-puzzle game, and became - for a time - the best selling game of all time! How does it stack up today? Has this adventure game aged like a fine Chardonnay or soured like milk? Chris has been to the Ages of Myst and back and has freed Atrus in this review of Myst!
news | 08/09/06 | Chris Martin
TVG reported today that that From Software, the developer responsible for Chromehounds on the Xbox 360, but better known for the Armored Core series, has told Famitsu they have stopped production on two games for the PS3: Dark RPG and Black Blade. Whether these titles would even have been released stateside is up in the air, From Software has not given reasons for stopping production (too difficult to develop for or higher production costs are notorious forum rumors).
game: Gears of War
news | 08/03/06 | Chris Martin
REDMOND, Washington - Aug. 3, 2006 - Microsoft offices t
oday announced that Epic Games\', \"Gears of War\" has been given a solid release date. Gamers have been waiting for the game since its impressive showing at E3 2005, and we posted our
hands-on multiplayer preview a while back. But now, \"Emergence Day\" is not so mysterious and, guess what, it\'s releasing in November, right alongside the PlayStation 3.

Systems like the original Xbox and Sony\'s PSP are praiseworthy on their own, but they can be made even better through the creative application of homebrew software. Enthusiast developed software has helped shape the console industry since the days of the Sega Saturn and the original PlayStation.
This posting on the DCEmu forums takes a brief, but informed look at the state of homebrew development on t
oday\'s and yesterday\'s systems. Included in the list are common consoles, like the Xbox, as well as older systems, like the DreamCast. It\'s an interesting read if you\'ve dabbled on the fringe of the community and are curious to hear an overview of how things stand.
