game: Fable: The Lost Chapters

Fable was a major game for Xbox, and in many ways it was a disappointment: It was quick, and many of the insanely innovative game ideas we originally heard about were tamed into merely interesting or innovative ideas. In the end, it could never shake the glory of what had initially been promised when legendary designer Peter Molyneaux first spoke about Fable. Now the Xbox receives the polished and buffed version of Fable that was released earlier this Fall for the PC. Fable: The Lost Chapters adds a bunch of new content to the game, ranging from new bosses to new moves and spells. It\'s a welcome addition to the game, and reminds us why Fable remains a game every Xbox owner must play: It\'s fun. Get the full review from Chris Martin right here.

Is there room on a gaming site for news that\'s not exactly new? We think so. Sometimes things that are old are still cool, even if they\'ve slumped a bit below the radar in recent years. The N64 modding community is an excellent example; modders online have been updating old N64 ROMS for years, including replacing old textures with high resolution images, cell-shaded graphics, and other nifty treats. Around for a while or not, Zelda: Ocarina of Time is still cool in our book, especially in high rez. In the same vein, if you\'re looking for something to drain away your time, check out Lunar Magic, a level editor for the SuperNES title Super Mario World. Yeah, it\'s been around for a while, but if you\'ve never seen it, it\'s new to you.

Nintendo has pulled the Revolution controller from its magic hat, and the gaming community is now reeling in surprise. Initial responses around GamesFirst have ranged from, \"Wow,\" to, \"That\'s the ugliest thing I\'ve ever seen.\" How well the controller works depends on the quality of games Nintendo and third party developers can produce. Another question, though: After months of fan mock-ups and fake Revolution photos, did any of them get it right? Did anyone get even close? Turns out one or two did.

game: Xitel SoundAROUND

Xitel's SoundAROUND is a nifty little device with big claims. The SoundAROUND attempts to create a rich 3D surround sound environment capable of competing with a 5.1 speaker system, but using only two speakers. At the same time that it tries to trick your brain into hearing sounds from behind you when there are no sounds there, it ups the bass without overdriving your speakers. Is it magic? Does it work? Read our review to see how well the actual unit compares to the one Xitel advertises.

Knights of the Old Republic II finds itself in the difficult position of trying to improve on one of the best games in recent years. The result is a game built on tried and true game dynamics, a darker emphasis than the original, and a new story that takes you from Star Wars planet to Star Wars planet, but doesn't break ground and drops you at the end. A blast to play, but missing a little bit of that special magic that was captured in the first, KotoRII might not rock your world. David has the inside scoop.
game: Resident Evil 4

As so many gamers will tell you, zombies make for good gaming. And the OG zombie shooter is Resident Evil. When it first came out, the RE series was an amazing achievement featuring moody camera angles and truly frightening gameplay. But after three major incarnations, and twice as many spin-offs, it's hard to keep the magic alive. So we were a little nervous about Resident Evil 4, the latest installment of the series. We all huddled in the back shed and then we pushed out one of our new guys, George, to see if the zombies would eat his brain.
