Why We're Starting a Comic Based on Video Games
Articles Archive | 04/17/05 | Aaron Stanton
We here at GF! are being bold today; we're launching a series of comics based on video games called twoplayer comics, even though sites like Penny Arcade and vgcats.com already keep things interesting. Nuts, huh? Aaron, co-creator of twoplayer, tries to explain what the hell he was thinking when he created a comic with the initials T.P.

GamesFirst! Holiday Wishlist! '04: Part 3
Articles Archive | 12/22/04 | Chris Martin
With less than three days until Christmas, it's crunch time for Santa and his helpers. We're all gearing up for big feasts, big trees, and for big game marathons with friends and family on an upcoming winter day. Still kids deep down inside, we're also gearing up for the Christmas morning tree rush, in which the grown men and women (or at least me) here at GF! give up adulthood for a moment and act like children again. What's the number one item we're hoping to find under the tree? Be sure to read Part I and II, posted over the last week or so, and then find out what's really got us hungry here in Part III. After you get done with that, relax, kick off your shoes, and have yourself a wonderful holiday, and a very merry Christmas!

After reading Part I, posted three days ago, be sure to read Part II right here.

Gamesfirst! Holiday Wishlist! '04: Part 1
Articles Archive | 12/16/04 | Chris Martin
There's no time better in the gaming industry than Christmas, partly because there's always an excess of quality holiday titles hitting the shelves, but also partly because it's the one time of year when someone else might join in the feeding of our gaming habits. It's a time of possibility; a time when not only is it possible to maybe get free games, but if classics like Miracle on 34th Street are to be believed, also, maybe, things like houses and stuff. So when we here at GF! asked a number of our crew what they really wanted for Christmas, we didn't let them be limited by anything like reality. Be sure to read Part I of our GamesFirst! Christmas Wishlist, where we reveal the true depth of our gaming addictions (a few of the responses may lead to psychiatric evaluations, and probably at least one committal? it happens every year). Only 9 days and counting!

Me Lean Like Persian Prince, You Buff Like Conan: Part III
Articles Archive | 11/27/04 | Aaron Stanton

The KiloWatt is an all-system controller designed to make those best selling games of the season work to shrink our wastline instead of expand it. Can you get fit and play at the same time? Any game you want? The Kilowatt seems to think you can.

This is part III of GF!'s KiloWatt coverage, a humorous and informative series on the effectiveness of the Kilowatt as a gaming device and an exercise machine. Ready in time for the Christmas season, it's a read for everyone who loves games, loves a gamer, or is just worried about the extra bulge.

Video Game Invasion: The History of a Global Obsession
game: Video Game Invasion: The History of a Global Obsession
review | 11/23/04 | Shawn Rider
There's nothing to give you that feeling of being one of the gang,? here at GamesFirst than being able to pull out obscure videogame trivia during conversations. While some might consider jokes about Pong, Zelda, and the need for Princess Peach to take self-defense lessons as an indication that we're nerds, around here we consider it the height of sophistication. How do we keep on top of the game? Well, we read, we subscribe to our own newsletter, and we keep an eye open for the occasional quality DVD documentary like Video Game Invasion. It's an inside look with the right sources and the right heart. Make sure you read our review.

In case you\'ve been living under a rock for the past two weeks, you know that Halo 2 is out. (And in case you have a Gamecube and PC under that rock, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Half-Life 2 are also out.) Everyone knows that Halo 2 is pretty much teh h0tness, but that doesn\'t stop you from wondering what we gave it, right? After all, there was that whole gamesfirst.com/v4/index.php?m=l&i=129\"" onClick="window.open( this.href, '_self' ); return false;" title="">Doom 3 thing a few months ago...

review | 12/09/03 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
When it comes to the GBA, Gamesfirst reviewer Jason Frank is a living legend. Some people say he was born with a GBA in his hand. Many say he won his GBA atop Mt. Olympus in an oiled-up, blindfolded submission wrestling match with Zeus. Others say he got it at Target. All I know is that he takes on Rocket Power: Zero Gravity Zone, the latest in GBA skateboarding, right here right now. Click here to watch the master work.

Max Payne II: The Fall of Max Payne
game: Max Payne II: The Fall of Max Payne
review | 12/07/03 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
Console gamers had to exercise a little patience when PC gamers were the first to get their hands on Max Payne 2, but the wait is over. Max is back, and this time he has company to liven things up a bit. Max is wasting bad guys and dodging bullets better than ever via the bullet time ballet, but the high point here is the superbly crafted narrative. Gamesfirst! editor Shawn Rider delves the depths of Max Payne 2, and the story begins right here.

Articles Archive | 11/13/02 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
The Serious Sam Franchise has been one of the most popular and most traditional shooters on the PC. Coming out of nowhere (Croatia) and taking the gaming world by storm, both Serious Sam and Serious Sam: The Second Encounter have done very well with the GamesFirst! reviewers. Now, Gotham Games and Croteam have put together an Xbox version of Serious Sam, combining both of the PC games and all jazzed up for better graphics and intense four player action. Don't miss our interview with David Nottingham, Producer for Gotham Games.
