Interview: The Story Behind Amped 3
game: Amped 3
interview | 11/16/05 | Aaron Stanton
The Xbox 360 is only days away from making its way into your home (if you\'re lucky), and the development community is collectively holding their breaths. In the last minutes before the first reviews begin showing up for games on Microsoft\'s new system, there\'s just a little bit of time for developers to say a word or two about their games before everyone gets a go at them. We take a moment to talk with Indie Built\'s Aaron Connors, Amped 3\'s Story Director, about one of the 360\'s first sports titles.

GF! Mailbag
feature | 11/12/05 | Matt James
Matt\'s back with another bag full of the good stuff. This time through the Mailbag we\'ve got some more comments about the revolution controller (they just don\'t stop), a bit of \"debate\" about the veracity of the Giantology.net website, and once again GamesFirst! exhibits deft diplomatic skillZ and averts yet another potential international conflict. No thanks necessary. That\'s what we\'re here for.

Twoplayer Comic: My Eyes! Arrrrrgh...
game: Doom 3
comic | 11/07/05 | Aaron Stanton
The Doom movie managed to hit #1 in the box office right after its release. Since then, competition from other titles have forced it down the chart, with one magazine reporting a 120% drop less than a week after it\'s release. Don\'t ask me how that\'s possible, except that - if the charts wrap-around to the top of the screen like many old NES games - that would put them way up there at the top. Possibly one of the greatest money makers of all time. Who knows? Take a look at this week\'s twoplayer comic (Part I and Part II) to see which Doom-isms made a safe transition from the game to the movie.

Redefine The Grind: Sociolotron and the Atypical Gamer (Part One)
game: Sociolotron
feature | 11/07/05 | Shawn Rider
We published Shawn\'s preview of Sociolotron a year ago. Sociolotron is an adults-only RPG that plunges players into an anything-goes world of post-apocalyptic London. Sex, drugs, and occult rituals play prominent roles in the world, as does free agency, community service, and player-based self-governance. A year ago the game was in beta testing, and since coming out in a final version a few months ago Sociolotron has seen some refinement and enhancements, but remained essentially the same game, heavy on role-playing of all sorts. Rather than a review of Sociolotron, Shawn revisited the game and its players to take a closer look at the phenomenon that is Sociolotron in a two part series. This week we present the first portion, and next Monday we\'ll post the conclusion.

Please note: This article is not for the feint of heart or impressionable youths. Remember, Sociolotron is rigorously policed and not available for underage players.

Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes Review
game: Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes
review | 11/04/05 | Jeremy Kauffman
The second in Phantagram\'s action RTS series for the Xbox, Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes delivers on strategy and button-mashing action, but comes up short in story. Jeremy took KUF: Heroes out for a walk, and decides that in spite of the many faults, Heroes might just be worth a look for the online play, which provides RTS battle mayhem for up to six players via Xbox Live.

Infinium Labs Under SEC Investigation, Phantom Still Vapor
game: Phantom
news | 11/03/05 | Aaron Stanton
Infinium Labs has faced an upward battle for recognition as a legitimate player in the game industry. Ever since HardOCP.com published an article challenging the track record of Infinium Labs\' founder Tim Roberts, the company has been defending itself as much as it has been promoting their products. Numerous delays in releasing the Phantom game console have not helped their case any, and now they\'re facing additional problems. Apparently, the U.S. SEC is now investigating Infinium Labs for what amounts to unpaid taxes and poor payroll keeping. Just one more brick in the wall...

King of Fighters 02/03 Review
game: King Of Fighters 2002/2003
review | 10/27/05 | Matt James
King of Figthers 2002/2003 is another doublepack from SNK highlighting quality ports of their classic franchise. This time around the fighting games get a new online versus mode, but that\'s not nearly enough to make this one appealing to anyone not already a King of Fighters fan. The series is feeling dated to the uninitiated, and for most folks, King of Fighters 2002/2003 is a pass (unless you\'re planning a fun-filled evening of gaming with your dad).

Blitzkrieg 2 Review
game: Blitzkrieg 2
review | 10/25/05 | Blaine Krumpe
CDV\'s Blitzkrieg 2 is a hardcore grognard\'s dream: RTS gameplay simulations of famous WWII battles. Playing as either an American, Russian or German commander, you make the decisions about where and how to deploy your land, air or sea ordinance. The 3D graphics engine makes for some pretty explosions, and the rag doll physics makes the battle truly brutal. Visceral and complex, Blitzkrieg 2 is a must-play for any WWII buffs or RTS fans.

Tracking Xbox 360 Kiosks
news | 10/22/05 | Shawn Rider
As the Xbox 360 begins to show up around the country in retail kiosks gamers are frothing for a chance to get some hands-on time with the system. To assist you in finding a retail location with an Xbox 360 kiosk, someone has created a Frapper map that charts the locations of retail 360 kiosks by plugging into Google maps. Users can add waypoints, comments and images. There is a severe lack of imagery, though, so gamerss with phonecams, get ye to the local megalomart. And then post them up on the Xbox 360 Retail Kiosks Map.

Is World of Warcraft Watching You?
game: World of Warcraft
editorial | 10/15/05 | Aaron Stanton
A recent posting on RootKit.com suggests that Blizzard installs software that watches the personal information of people playing their game. The software is designed to hunt for cheat-ware, but reads the title headings of any window open, regardless of its relation to WoW. The poster reports that he, \"watched the Warden sniff down the email addresses of people I was communicating with on MSN, (and) the URL of several websites that I had open at the time.\" Don\'t like that? Too bad. Considering that it\'s part of Blizzard\'s anti-hacking measures, it might be considered illegal for you to turn it off, or even try to. At what point do we consider this a problem?
