New PS3 Fatal Inertia Screens

Screenshots of Playstation 3 games continue to suggest that publishers are trying to take full advantage the PS3\'s power. Yesterday, publisher Koei released a bunch of new screenshots for Fatal Inertia, their futuristic hover racer that looks vaguely reminiscent of both F-Zero and the pod racing from Star Wars. Its gameplay emphasizes the use of physics as a tool to win races, but Fatal Inertia\'s graphics engine is evidently looking pretty good too. You can see that from the new screens.

Penny-Arcade Gets Into the Game Making Buisness

Only hours away from the start of the Penny-Arcade Exposition in Washington, Penny-Arcade has let slip a new project of theirs. The Penny-Arcade webcomic has partnered with Hothead Games to produce video games based on the characters of their popular online comic. The games are going to be designed for Windows, OSX, and Linux at first, with an aim to translate to the home console somewhere down the road. The games will be downloadable and episodic. As if you didn\'t have enough reason to love this game. Here are 17 brand new hi-res screens of the Xbox 360 version of F.E.A.R. You\'ll see some nice particle effects, lighting effects, and others. Skeptics might be thinking \"of course\"; any kind of violence over prolonged durations will cause the viewer to be desensitised in the end. Well, studies are showing that it\'s much quicker than expected. You might be shocked from the results.

Old school fighting game fans, get your thumbs ready. The Street Fighter Alpha series has been bundled into one convenient package and adapted for the PS2. But is that enough for the classic 2D side-scrolling fighter to grab and hold your interest? The anthology offers a great classic arcade feel, but the gameplay of Street Fighter has been copied enough times over the years that the fighting is, sadly, nothing special anymore. If you\'re a fan of the past, this is a great collection, as collections go, but it stands as a reminder of how far fighting games have come over the years.

It\'s been widely misreported all over the internet that the \"First Blu-Ray drives won\'t play Blu-ray.\" While it\'s true that the first Blu-Ray drives in Australia won\'t play Blu-Ray discs, it\'s mainly due to the limited Blu-Ray player software that currenly only shows up in Sony\'s VAIO. So no, it\'s not a worldwide issue, and neither is it a problem for the new Sony hardware.

A Look at Short Films Made by Neill Blomkamp, Director of the Upcoming Halo Feature Film

Microsoft has announced who will direct the upcoming Halo feature film, and it\'s a 26-year-old untested short film maker. Neill Blomkamp, tapped to direct the movie based on Microsoft\'s tremendously successful video game, has never directed a full length feature film, and has most of his industry experience as a 3D animator and visual effects expert.
