NBA 2K6 Review
game: NBA 2K6
review | 12/30/05 | Chris Martin
In the battle of Xbox 360 launch titles, two contenders went head-to-head on the hardwood: NBA Live 06 and NBA 2K6. Chris Martin already reported on NBA Live\'s disappointing performance, but left us dangling on NBA 2K6\'s courtside prowess. So how does the 2K Sports title fare against behemoth EA\'s basketball baby? Rather well. Featuring a lot more material than NBA Live, and prettier graphics, NBA 2K6 is the basketball title to pick up. Check the review for the details.

Happy Holidays From GF!
news | 12/25/05 | Shawn Rider
On behalf of the staff of GamesFirst!, we would like to take this space to wish all of our staff, readers and colleagues a happy, happy holiday season. We wouldn\'t be here without you, and we know that. On our 10th holiday season, we are thankful for all the people who have helped make GamesFirst! what it is today. Our staff is among the best online, and we value your efforts. To our fellow websites (especially the ones who kick down the kind links), we thank you. You know who you are, and you inspire us to do better. To all of the game developers, PR reps, and publishers who work with us on a daily basis, we want to extend our most sincere gratitude. We couldn\'t do what we do without your continued support, and life wouldn\'t be as much fun without you.

And, of course, we want to wish Happy Holidays to our readers. We are proud to be able to serve you for the past 10 years, and we look forward to number 11. Without you, we\'d just be posting up articles for our mothers to read, and although they never complain about our reviews or call us idiots, GF! would feel pretty empty without you. Thanks.

AGSDE Expo Asia 2005: The PS3 Construction
feature | 12/23/05 | Aaron Stanton
The 4th Asian Game Show & Digital Entertainment Expo Asia 2005 in Hong Kong might not be showing off anything cool from Microsoft, but they\'ve certainly got something from Sony. GamesFirst editor Aaron Stanton takes a quick peek at the show floor the day before the expo opens to the public, and reports on the warm fuzzy feelings he got at seeing the PlayStation 3 logo being raised above Sony\'s booth. AGSDEE might not be as well known in the west as E3 or CES, but it\'s an opportunity to see hands-on what Sony plans to offer. You\'ll want to keep an eye open as the four day exposition kicks off.

Madden NFL 06 Review
game: Madden NFL 06
review | 12/12/05 | Jeremy Kauffman
Madden 06 brings the gridiron to the Xbox 360. With graphics built from the ground up for the next generation system, it is prettier than ever, and sports a few gameplay tweaks to boot. But like all of the EA Sports lineup, it is curiously missing some features and seems to be catered to hardcore fans. So what\'s the final verdict? Read Jeremy\'s full review here.

Are graphics all they\'re cracked up to be? Has the NBA Live franchise regained its prestige? And what happened to franchise mode? There are two basketball titles to make it to the Xbox 360 launch: NBA 2K6 and NBA Live 06. One is good, the other, not so good. Read on to find out if EA Canada\'s port of Live 06 is worth your money.

NHL 2K6 Review
game: NHL 2K6
review | 12/01/05 | Jeremy Kauffman
Hockey has been through some hard times, but we\'re finally enjoying a year back on the ice. Also returning to the arena is 2K Sports\' franchise installment, NHL 2K6. NHL 2K6 makes its way onto the Xbox 360 with a graphical polish and some additions to gameplay. Is this the must own hockey game for the next generation? And can the enhancements made for the 360 version make it worth the 360 price tag? Jeremy has the full review here.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 Review
game: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06
review | 11/30/05 | Matt James
One of EA Sports\' flaghship franchises is Tiger Woods PGA Tour. This year, the tour is coming to an Xbox 360 near you, and we got Matt James to check it out for us. With some frustrating new gameplay elements and (surprisingly) fewer available courses than it\'s previous-gen cousins, this isn\'t going to be the crown jewel of the Tiger Woods franchise. But if you\'re looking for a golf game on the 360, it\'s all you\'re going to get.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted Review
game: Need for Speed: Most Wanted
review | 11/25/05 | Matt James
There are a few major racing games out for the Xbox 360, but Matt James is stoked to be playing Need For Speed: Most Wanted. It\'s not the simulation experience that Project Gotham offers, which, for some gamers, is a very good thing. Take your driving skillz to the pavement against outlaw racers, avoiding cops and whipping through dynamic environments that include weather and time effects. It\'s a lot of fun, and we\'ve got the write-up right here.

Don't Panic: Reports of 360 Defects Overrated (Probably)
game: Xbox 360
editorial | 11/23/05 | Aaron Stanton
Should you be worried about the Xbox 360 being defective? Are they dropping like flies? According to online forums, Xbox 360s seem to be reporting errors like mad, but don\'t be too quick to go off telling your friends about the death of the 360. The words \"recall\" shouldn\'t slip out your lips just yet. In short, don\'t panic; chances are that error rates are skewed by the hardcore demographic of early adopters eager to share their 360 experiences.

Amped 3 Review
game: Amped 3
review | 11/22/05 | Shawn Rider
Amped 3 is known for bringing the more realistic approach to snowboarding, but previous installments have suffered from a severe lack of personality. This time out, developer Indie Built has gone out of their way (and possibly minds!) to bring a much more appealing Amped to the table. Amped is still the best realistic snowboarding sim you\'ll find, and the robust story mode and enhanced control system help it stay on top this time out. But can it break out of the snowboarding game ghetto to capture the mainstream audience? Check the review to find out.

Tony Hawk's American Wasteland Review
game: Tony Hawk's American Wasteland
review | 11/16/05 | Jeremy Kauffman
Tony Hawk\'s American Wasteland marks the third incarnation of the immensely popular series. Is it a worthy successor to THPS and THUG? Well, do BMX bikes and the French sport of freestyle walking, aka Le Parkour, turn you on? They should. And does a seamless recreation of Los Angeles help? It might. And what about online multiplayer for Xbox owners? It\'s about time. Veteran skate punk, Jeremy, put thumb to controller to give you this review.
