New Screens for X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse on PSP
game: X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse
news | 09/10/05 | Shawn Rider
Due in October, Vicarious Visions\' PSP version of X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse looks to be a game well worth watching. The PSP has been in a serious drought lately, with lackluster titles and very few of them. It\'s a Nintendo-like wasteland of early development for PSP owners. But X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse could be a breakout hit this Fall, especially of it features a robust (and infrastructure) WiFi mode.

Pretty Colors and Lens Flare: Why Graphics Matter
editorial | 09/08/05 | Shawn Rider
There is a raging debate going on right now about the next generation of gaming consoles. For many, it can be summed up like this: Do prettier graphics justify an entirely new generation? Are the graphics in the next generation enough of an improvement to justify an entirely new generation? With game development cycles getting longer and hardware cycles getting shorter, it\'s entirely appropriate to address the issue of whether or not the next generation of home consoles is really worth it.

Modding Community Gets Head Start on Xbox 360
news | 08/31/05 | Aaron Stanton
Probably the people most passionate about whether or not the Xbox 360 has a hard drive are system modders, who can possibly use the hard drive for everything from stealing games (bad) to running homebrew software (goodish). Now, the makers of the SmartXX mod chip for the Xbox have gotten hold of a number of Xbox 360 development kits. They\'ve opened the system and photographed the insides, which is a pretty good indication that the modding community is already at work on modding the next generation game consoles.

Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade
game: Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade
review | 04/13/05 | Shawn Rider
Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade is a hack-and-slash dungeon crawling RPG that brings classic Diablo-style gameplay to your PSP. It's got great graphics, a deep character development system, and is pretty much a hoot to play with friends. But like so many RPG protagonists, it is as flawed as it is brilliant. Curse the darkness, or get the light right here.

Project: Snowblind

review | 04/02/05 | Chris Martin
When the Deus Ex series disappeared, many of its play dynamics made their way into a new beast altogether: Project Snowblind. Is there any reminisce of the Deus Ex that we know and love lurking down inside? Chris takes us down into the world of Project Snowblind for a look at all the things that bio-mods and technology can do to a war.

Cops 2170: The Power Of Law
game: Cops 2170: The Power Of Law
review | 03/19/05 | Eric Bodrero
When a game touts mechanical rats capable of shooting at you, it's either a sign of genius, guts, or both on the part of the developer. In the case of Cops 2170, it's just the second; the combination of poor play dynamics and a few key design decisions leave the game with less of a positive punch than we could have hoped. If there is genius here, a few more months of development time before releasing the game onto the public might have made it more apparent. Read our full review to learn more.

Sonic Battle
game: Sonic Battle
review | 04/21/04 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
In a moment of brilliance, not so long ago, a development team at Sega declared, Hey! Let's do that too!?. And Sonic Battle was born. And that's not a bad thing, cause our guy Eric says there's plenty of action to be found on the GBA with Sonic Battle. With a solid adventure mode and an exciting multiplayer experience (if you can nail the logistics down), Sonic Battle is worth a look. Click here for the full review.

Grabbed by the Ghoulies
game: Grabbed by the Ghoulies
review | 12/09/03 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
The wizards at Rare are easily one of the most beloved development studios around. Long the secret behind some of Nintendo's best games, Rare has a new home and they're starting to get their Xbox groove on. Grabbed by the Ghoulies is a bit too simple to be a hit for those looking for the Perfect Dark experience, but it will probably fare better with the kiddies and will no doubt find its way into a stocking or two. Painkiller Preview
game: Painkiller
preview | 07/20/03 | Tristan Mayshark
Dreamcatcher Interactive has what just might be their first full-fledged hit on their hands. Painkiller is still early in development, but so far the super pretty visuals and visceral gameplay have won it some notice. Now all they and developer People Can Fly have to do is land this baby in an appropriate manner. Exciting.

Spider-Man 2 Preview
game: Spider-Man 2
preview | 05/26/03 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
Activision is still early in the development of their latest Spider-Man game, Spider-Man 2, which is set to coincide with the release of the second film. This time around, Spidey has access to the streets of Manhattan, and thanks to a liberal dose of THPS4-style mission assignment, he now takes on side missions for a much more robust gaming challenge. If you enjoyed the last game, then this one should be on your list.
