Alien Hominid
game: Alien Hominid
review | 01/02/05 | Laurie Taylor
It's always good to see a game developed independent of the mainstream industry, as is the case of Alien Hominid, a side scrolling mountain of action that scores points with anyone that has a taste for old-school, Contra-style gameplay. Read why this stylistic GameCube and PS2 title is well worth your time.

Ubisoft Focus: Tork: Prehistoric Punk
game: Ubisoft Focus: Tork: Prehistoric Punk
preview | 12/31/04 | Chris Martin
Lots of people claim to have developer loyalty, but developers aren't the only ones that make the dream of a game come true. While their work might make a game good, it's publishers that get a game sold. If Ubisoft hadn't taken a chance on a few unique design concepts, games like Prince of Persia and the brilliant Beyond Good and Evil wouldn't have ever made it out of the developer's door. In the first of our Publisher Focus series, we're taking a look at what games Ubisoft has planned for us, starting with Tork: Prehistoric Punk. Make sure you read about this January release.

Conker: Live & Reloaded
game: Conker: Live & Reloaded
preview | 12/26/04 | Chris Martin
The trash-talkin', poo-whompin', Tediz slaughterin' squirrel is back. Conker: Live and Reloaded is the Xbox update of one of the best platformers for the N64. And although we loved the game on the N64, it's a little hard to imagine Rare spending the time to bring the same game out again on the Xbox. So let's take a hands-on look at the game with our man, Chris, to see just what we can expect, and get a better idea if this game should elicit a big sigh, or a big squeal.

Super Mario 64 DS
game: Super Mario 64 DS
review | 12/21/04 | Matt James

The Nintendo DS has launched with a dicey line-up of titles, touting one or two great games and a fair number barely worth your time. Mario 64 DS certainly qualifies as one of the first. Don't pick up a DS without this little gem in your pocket, because it's the best the DS has to offer at the moment. Be sure to read our review.

Blinx 2: Masters of Space and Time
game: Blinx 2: Masters of Space and Time
review | 12/05/04 | Laurie Taylor
Blinx 2: Masters of Space and Time is the big M's latest attempt at platform excellence. And like their previous attempts at platform excellence, it definitely has its ups and downs. Can the scrappy tabby pull this one out? Not with all the time crystals in the world...

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Mayhen
game: Scooby-Doo! Mystery Mayhen
review | 05/01/04 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
It's not often that you get a game that looks and feels like the movie it's based on. So often it's just a standard platformer with movie graphics. Not here, though. A2M took the time to do Scooby right, and the game is full of Scooby-Doo style. Click here to find out if it's enough to make it worth playing.

Sphinx and Cursed Mummy
game: Sphinx and Cursed Mummy
review | 04/21/04 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
It might be tempting to dismiss Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy as just another platformer, but you'd be missing out it you did. Though there are a few flaws to be found here and there, great characters, varied gameplay, and cool puzzles are just a few of the reasons to give this one a look. Click here for the full review.

Those with a hankering for some platformer action should look into Tak and the Power of Juju, especially those who are big on the Nickelodeon scene. While Tak isn't going to be up for any game of the year awards, it doesn't have any real flaws either. Does that make it a sleeper hit for Christmas? Click here to find out.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds Preview
game: Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds

Buffy fans take heart: The series may be over, but you can rekindle the magic with the second Buffy videogame: Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds. Featuring many more playable characters from the cast, a range of multiplayer options, and a multiplatform release, this should do the trick.
