Like DOA With Booty: Rumble Roses XX Review
game: Rumble Roses XX
review | 05/15/06 | Tristan Mayshark
There aren\'t a lot of choices for wrestling games on the Xbox 360 right now, and it would be debatable to claim that Rumble Roses XX fills the niche to the exclusion of other attempts. Rumble Roses is to booty what the DOA series is to chesty-ness. If the previous sentence makes sense in a positive way, then Rumble Roses is probably for you. But if it seems a bit \"pervy\" to play games where a primary focus is ogling the animated characters in a sexual way, then you might want to be satisfied merely reading Tristan\'s review. Check it out here.

E3 Exclusive: Hands on with Best of Show 06: Gears of War
game: Gears of War
preview | 05/15/06 | Chris Martin
Microsoft\'s 500 lbs gorilla this Fall is Gears of War. Not only did Gears manage to rip the GamesFirst! Best of Show trophy right out of our +5 Controller Grip, but it managed to prove to some jaded fellows that it is more than just another shooter. Featuring a focus on team-based strategic play, elements of quick-reflex skills, and some of the best audio and visuals we\'ve ever seen, Gears of War is the one game every Xbox 360 owner will buy this Fall.

GamesFirst! Best of E3 2006
game: E3 2006
feature | 05/13/06 | Shawn Rider
The 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo is over, but the good times certainly aren\'t. There were many things that impressed us at E3, a few that disappointed us, and plenty that we just didn\'t feel one way or the other about. But we\'ve focused in on the biggest of the big, the bestest of the best, and we have determined the best in a series of categories: Best of Show, Best Booth, Biggest Surprise, Most Annoyingly Exclusive, Gamer Approved, and the lowliest reward, Worst of Show. Check out the winners here.

Wii and More: Nintendo at E3 2006
editorial | 05/13/06 | George Holomshek
Nintendo made a slightly more exclusive showing at E3 this year, but overall showed off some bold new ideas. However, the company\'s focus is not solely on Wii; the DS remains a very successful handheld, and Cube owners were assured they will still receive a version of Twilight Princess. George has an overview of Nintendo\'s revelations, goals, and focus for E3 2006. Check it out.

A Day With Nintendo and Hands-On With Super Mario Galaxy
preview | 05/11/06 | Chris Martin
It was quite a day at the Nintendo booth at E3 today. With 27 titles, along with the Wii itself to be seen inside the fortress of a booth Nintendo had built, demand was high and lines were long. How long, you ask? Try a line of people with enough manpower that, if they wanted to, could have marched across the hall and held most of the Sony booth hostage. And while this mass of humanity deterred most of the GamesFirst! crew until tomorrow, our man Chris decided to brave the storm. Not only did he manage to come back alive, he even brought back an amusing story and some impressions of Mario\'s latest adventure.

Jack Thompson Seeks New Limelight Over Oblivion
game: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
news | 05/05/06 | Aaron Stanton
Jack Thompson has earned a reputation for championing legislation restricting video games. He\'s appeared on news shows like CNN, often presenting what many would argue is a one-sided assessment of the state of the game industry. Now, he\'s booking appointments for talk show appearances over the recent Oblivion re-rate issue. In a press release sent to GamesFirst, Jack Thompson makes himself available for talk show interviews. The press release contains huge and obvious factual errors, a tactic that\'s been used by Jack Thompson repeatedly in the past. Still, you have to love quotes like, \"(The Oblivion nudity) is not a modification or \"mod\" of the game by gamers. It is an unlocking of content that was put there by Take-Two with the unlocking code provided by the developer!\" If you\'re up for a laugh, or to just be really pissed off, read the full press release.

Nintendo Revolution Becomes Nintendo Wii
game: Nintendo Wii
news | 04/27/06 | Aaron Stanton
According to Nintendo.com, which was partially off-line for part of the morning, Nintendo has kissed the Nintendo Revolution name goodbye. Say hello to the Nintendo Wii, the new and final name for Nintendo\'s next home console. We here at GamesFirst did a double take for each of the two ii\'s, and even have one editor still convinced that the Nintendo site has just been hacked and that this will be cleared up by the afternoon. However, after the website came back up with all the appropriate links in place, it looks like this is official. The Nintendo Wii is here to stay, and the Nintendo Revolution is gone forever. All shall bow before the Wii.

XViD 360
news | 04/13/06 | Tristan Mayshark
If you have a PC running Windows Media Center Edition and an XBox 360, you already have access to a slick UI that you can use to stream media to your 360. Unfortunately, Microsoft severely limited what video codecs are supported out of box to Windows Medio Video and ASF. Fans of alternative formats like Xvid and DivX were simply out of luck. Thankfully, the people that brought us the Xbox Media Center have come to our rescue with a free download that lets you play a wide variety of formats on your Xbox 360. Take a look to see how it works.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Review
game: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
review | 04/08/06 | Chris Martin
Bethesda\'s Morrowind was a major RPG for PC and Xbox. So it\'s no surprise that the follow-up, Oblivion, has been one of the most highly anticipated titles of the year. After a few months\' delay, gamers have blissfully entered into Oblivion, in more than one way, and so far the game has shot to the top of the charts. Get the full story on Oblivion from Chris Martin\'s review, right here.

Twoplayer Comic: Forum Boys
comic | 03/24/06 | Aaron Stanton
After nearly a year, Twoplayer Comic\'s original artist is leaving GamesFirst and moving on to other projects. Noah Kroese\'s distinctive artwork and sense of humor have helped define TP comics as it exists today, and we wish him the best. Twoplayer will certainly feel his loss. Today\'s TP comic will be the last with Noah at the artistic reins, and the beginning of our search for an artist worthy of taking his place. Check out the final Twoplayer Comic by Noah Kroese, named after one of the Internet\'s most annoying aspects: Forum Boys. Best of luck, Noah.

GF! Mailbag
editorial | 03/11/06 | Matt James
We felt so bad for Matt having to lug that big mailbag all the way up to the GF! Offices that we moved his desk into the basement where the mail drops directly. Then we forgot about him. As it turns out, Matt\'s been down there the whole time, trapped under a crate of old Atari Age magazines and sandwiched between a box of old toys and a broken Wizard of Wor machine. Aaron found Matt when he went down to fetch a couple old floppy disks we needed to shimmy up an uneven leg on our new company massage table. It was too late for Matt, but he was clutching this latest edition of the GF! Mailbag in one hand, and had used Legos to spell out something about how Jeremy still can\'t beat his Gamerscore. Click here for what may very well be Matt\'s last Mailbag ever (unless we\'re totally lying to you, which is also possible).

Gun Porn Without the Satisfying Climax
game: Black
review | 03/02/06 | Tristan Mayshark
The time of console transition can be difficult, especially when it seems so clear that there is still life left in the current generation. Great proof of that untapped potential comes in the form of Black, out now from developer Criterion and Electronic Arts. Black arrives at the end of the current generation, but still delivers overwhelming graphics, sexy firearms, big explosions, and bigger explosions. But is shrapnel and pretty lighting effects enough to make gamers go for an FPS with no multiplayer? Check Tristan\'s review for the verdict.

Two Player Comic: Tingle's Secret Profession
comic | 02/21/06 | Aaron Stanton
Zelda\'s Tingle is probably one of the most unusual and distinctive characters in video game history. The short, stocky little guy in green tights can be more than annoying; he can be downright creepy at times. Yet does Tingle have a secret identity? When he\'s not out bothering Link, maybe he\'s a costume designer for Dead or Alive. You have to admit, the similarities are there. Skin tight clothes. Matching ears. Similar creep factor.
