preview | 03/02/03 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
One of the most beloved RPG developers, Bioware (makers of hits such as Neverwinter Nights and Baldur\'s Gate), has grabbed hold of one of the most beloved franchises, Star Wars, and created an RPG for the RPG starved Xbox and the not-so-RPG-starved PC. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic should be super cool. Click here.

game: Star Wars: The New Droid Army
review | 12/16/02 | Jason Frank
THQ has put out several new GBA Star Wars adventure games, and all of them have been pretty bad. Star Wars: The New Droid Army is no exception. It\'s another sidescroller adventure game where you jump stuff and swing your lightsaber. Whee! Hardcore Jedi Knights click here.
game: David Beckham Soccer
review | 12/16/02 | Jason Frank
David Beckham is one of the biggest stars in the soccer world. That means that his game franchise, David Beckham Soccer, should be really great. Unfortunately, it isn\'t. Most of our American readers won\'t care either way, but simplistic controls will frustrate our more worldly gaming audience. Click!
game: Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee
review | 12/16/02 | Jeremy Kauffman
If you\'re a fan of the button mashing multiplayer beat-em-up, then you definitely need to check out Godzilla: Destroy All Monster Melee. Sporting some of the prettiest graphics on the Gamecube, this is a must-play title, if only to spend an evening destroying cities and wreaking havoc. Click here to rampage on.
game: Star Wars: The Clone Wars
review | 12/01/02 | Jason Frank
LucasArts puts you in the last battle of Episode II and takes you into the ensuing conflict with Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Sure, it plays a lot like Starfighter, Rogue Squadron, and every other Star Wars battle oriented game, but the scale of these engagements is enough to drop your jaw once again, as well as the framerate on your \'Cube. game: Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO
review | 11/28/02 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
It may sound transgressive and spooky right about now to play a game called Sniper: Path of Vengeance, but let us assure you that this game will not train up the next crop of rampaging lunatics, mainly because it is so bad. Consider this review fair warning: If you grab this bad boy out of the bargain bin, then we can no longer help you.
game: Superman: Man of Steel
review | 11/17/02 | Jason Frank
Oh, it looks really nice. Really, REALLY nice. But Superman: Man of Steel plays very poorly. The controls are so awkward that it\'s hard to find the icing on this cake. If you\'re a huge fan of the man in the blue tights, then you might go for the rental, but average, non-super humans will struggle with crippling frustration and woe.
game: Smuggler's Run: Warzones
review | 11/06/02 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
Rockstar\'s now-classic off-road combat driving franchise makes its way to the Gamecube. Smuggler\'s Run: Warzones features exotic locales, lots of vehicular mayhem, and a kinder, gentler form of international smuggling. Click here.
game: Chase: Hollywood Stunt Driver
review | 10/25/02 | Jeremy Kauffman
Bam! Entertainment and I-Imagine bring us the first title developed in the Microsoft Incubator program, and the first console game made in Africa. Chase: Hollywood Stunt Driver provides really solid gameplay that will have you hard-pressed to put down the controller. It\'s a great first effort, and we look forward to more. Click here.
game: Superman: Shadow of Apokolips
review | 10/20/02 | Eric Qualls
Infogrames and Atari bring us a new Superman game, and this one goes a long way toward redeeming the steely one\'s reputation. Superman: Shadow of Apokolips manages to look almost just like the popular cartoon series, and the game itself is not bad. Click here for more.
game: Prisoner of War
review | 10/16/02 | Aaron Stanton
Codemasters brings us a really innovative WWII-themed title. Prisoner of War puts you in the role of a downed American fighter pilot, and it ain\'t all Hogan\'s Heroes. You\'ll sneak around, infiltrate, steal and escape, but you won\'t fire a shot from a weapon. Plus, you\'ll learn derogatory terms for Germans you never knew existed. Click.

Here at Gamesfirst! we like to talk about games--interactive art, we'll tell you, and the future of art and storytellinga force more powerful and more frightening than its parent, the movie, or its grandparent, the stageboth terrifying in their own way, in their own time. But did you ever wonder where the word "videogame"came from? "Video" meets "game"--it sounds like a pretty straightforward etymology to get to the word that brings us all so much joy, but what we have here is a strange union between two ancient words who's roots stretch across recorded timeand further, in fact, into the dark night of prerecorded time.
