Two Player Comic: Tingle's Secret Profession
comic | 02/21/06 | Aaron Stanton
Zelda\'s Tingle is probably one of the most unusual and distinctive characters in video game history. The short, stocky little guy in green tights can be more than annoying; he can be downright creepy at times. Yet does Tingle have a secret identity? When he\'s not out bothering Link, maybe he\'s a costume designer for Dead or Alive. You have to admit, the similarities are there. Skin tight clothes. Matching ears. Similar creep factor. Seed Beta Test Sign-Ups
game: Seed
news | 01/10/06 | Shawn Rider
Beta signups are now open for the upcoming sci-fi MMORPG, Seed. Seed puts you in the role of a colonist settling the tense, perilous planet Da Vinci. A unique cel-shaded visual approach gives Seed the feeling of a graphic novel, and all of the in-game information is designed to uphold this comic book feel: Speech is shown in dialogue bubbles, and the screen is broken into panels. Gameplay is unique, too, focusing on character development and dynamically generated stories that are created for each individual player according to their style. Check out the Seed beta signups in order to get the early bird special this February.

TP Comic: FingerBang
comic | 12/27/05 | Aaron Stanton
When half your comic team disappears overseas for the holidays, it\'s hard to keep things running smoothly at a game comic. That doesn\'t explain all of TP Comics recent venture into the bizarrely inconsistent, but it explains a good portion of it. Now that the Xbox 360 is resting next to piles of used wrapping paper and a Christmas tree suffering from dehydration, it\'s easier to find the time to make fun of things. Hopefully that means we\'ll get back into a pattern again here after the new year. Take a look at this week\'s TwoPlayer comic, comics.gamesfirst.com/index.php?thisComic=38\"" onClick="window.open( this.href, '_self' ); return false;" title="">FingerBang, the \"banned\" ad commercial.

If They Were As Smart As We Think We Are
editorial | 12/03/05 | Jeremy Kauffman
We all have ideas for the next big thing, an idea for a game that everyone would love. The big difference between us and the rest of the world is that we can write about our ideas and entertain our delusions of \'having a real effect on the industry.\' To those ends, we present \"If They Were As Smart As We Think We Are,\" Matt and Jeremy\'s forum for sharing some of their hare-brained videogame concepts. We invite you to read and respond.

Twoplayer Comic: Did You Say Something?
comic | 11/15/05 | Aaron Stanton
Sometimes articles rub people the wrong way. Sometimes somebody criticises a beloved video game, or says the wrong thing in an editorial about Nintendo. Sometimes, though, they just mention the fact that they\'re a girl that happens to play games. This week\'s twoplayer comic is partially in response to the reader reaction we got from an article we published last week called, A Look Behind Alice: A Woman\'s Reason for Gaming. The character profile of a casual gamer was received with mixed results. comics.gamesfirst.com/index.php?thisComic=37\"" onClick="window.open( this.href, '_self' ); return false;" title="">Did You Say Something? is this week\'s twoplayer comic.

1UP Takes a Look at Gaming Webcomics: Forgets the TP
news | 11/08/05 | Shawn Rider
1UP.com has a good history of web comics dedicated to videogames. It walks through all the major players, from current videogame comic and freedom-fighting Juggernaut, Penny Arcade, to foundational titles like PvP and 8-Bit Theater. These mighty three have spun off entire genres in a fledgling industry, and many have made their rise side by side with the indy gaming website scene. Of course, there\'s no mention of Twoplayer, which has been recognized by sites like Joystiq as not totally sucking. Nevertheless, it\'s a good read and if any of the comics discussed are not on your webcomic radar, then you are really missing out. Twoplayer Comic: My Eyes! Arrrrrgh...
game: Doom 3
comic | 11/07/05 | Aaron Stanton
The Doom movie managed to hit #1 in the box office right after its release. Since then, competition from other titles have forced it down the chart, with one magazine reporting a 120% drop less than a week after it\'s release. Don\'t ask me how that\'s possible, except that - if the charts wrap-around to the top of the screen like many old NES games - that would put them way up there at the top. Possibly one of the greatest money makers of all time. Who knows? Take a look at this week\'s twoplayer comic (comics.gamesfirst.com/index.php?thisComic=35\"" onClick="window.open( this.href, '_self' ); return false;" title="">Part I and comics.gamesfirst.com/index.php?thisComic=36\"" onClick="window.open( this.href, '_self' ); return false;" title="">Part II) to see which Doom-isms made a safe transition from the game to the movie.

Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction Review
game: Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
review | 11/05/05 | Matt James
When done right, the synergy of comic book and videogame can fulfill the deepest desires of many a fanboy and fangirl. The latest comic game to get it right, Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, is a must-play for any fan of the Hulk comics, and is tight enough to reward anyone with even a passing interest. Utilizing an open gameplay and mission scheme, Ultimate Destruction satisfies with an engrossing Hulk storyline and a living-world Hulk experience. And it\'s amazing how satisfying it is to just break sh*t.

Twoplayer Comic: Modest Proposal Gone Wrong
game: PSP
comic | 10/24/05 | Aaron Stanton
Jack Thompson\'s letter offering to donate $10,000 may have been satirical, but not nearly satirical enough. A number of games designed to meet his criteria have sprung up across the Internet, evidently eager to top the lawyer\'s demand. It\'s a good thing that Jonathan Swift\'s proposal, the one which Thompson compares his own letter to, was a bit more obvious. Crazy things could have happened. Nintendo DS Trojan: Nintendophiles Get Bricks Too
news | 10/11/05 | Shawn Rider
In a shocking turn of events (and just plain weird event in general), news comes to us through several sources of a Nintendo DS Trojan. The malicious program is known as either \"hentai loader\", \"r0mloader.zip\", or \"taihen.zip\", and is designed to \'brick\' your Nintendo DS. The program promises to load either pirated game roms or hentai (a Japanese term for pornographic comics and cartoons) on your DS when loaded using a flash rom device, which makes it possible to run homebrew applications and games on the Nintendo DS.

comic | 10/03/05 | Aaron Stanton
The most expensive Xbox 360 bundle now exceeds $4500, and includes everything from the system to a plasma TV. Even without the TV packed inside the box, bundles still run in the $2000 range, with pretty much every extra the Xbox 360 will launch with. Where will it stop? Every time we gamers decide that retailers have finally pushed the limit beyond anything close to reasonable, they go and prove that they can come up with something even better.
