Review: Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins
game: Ultimate Ghost 'n Goblins
review | 10/07/06 | Matt James
Capcom has brought its beloved sidescroller Ghosts \'n Goblins to the next-gen of handhelds with Ultimate Ghosts \'n Goblins for PSP. The new visuals are pretty, and fans of the slightly wonky and completely manic classic GnG experience will be happy. But if you expect a true resurrection of this title on par with New Super Mario Bros. or Metroid, then you\'re likely to be dissapointed. Check out Matt\'s review for the details.

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin Preview
game: Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
preview | 05/30/06 | RJ Brooks
Castlevania debuted on the Nintendo DS in near perfect form in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. The Konami release is still one of the best games available on Nintendo\'s latest handheld system. Now, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin is gearing for another round of Dracula hunting, including a form of Co-op play and a new dual character system that encourages you to switch between characters as you play. While there are still a lot of unanswered questions about how the game will be balanced, the Castlevania sequel is certainly looking strong enough to capture our attention. Read our preview for more details.

George has an overview of Nintendo\'s revelations, goals, and focus for E3 2006. Check it out.

Metroid Prime: Hunters Review
game: Metroid Prime: Hunters
review | 03/30/06 | George Holomshek
Since the release of the Nintendo DS gamers have been anticipating the DS-exclusive, Metroid Prime: Hunters. Featuring a funky touch-screen control style, Metroid-classic adventure gaming and a robust online multiplayer mode, Hunters might just be all it\'s cracked up to be. This is the first time the GF! staff has been so addicted to online multiplayer in a handheld shooter; a revamped friends system and voice chat enhance the experience in many ways. Our resident Nintendophile George found time to write up this review of Hunters in-between sessions of spanking GF! Assistant Editor, Aaron Stanton in online bouts. (7-0 Aaron? Are you sure you\'re qualified for this job?)

game: Greg Hastings? Tournament Paintball Max?d
review | 03/23/06 | George Holomshek
Greg Hastings\' Tournament Paintball Max\'d brings all the splatter-y excitement of the paintball arena to the Nintendo DS. First-person shooters are always popular, and the paintball games have been appreciated by parents who aren\'t comfortable blowing up their kids into meaty chunks, but still want to play some fun virtual tag. So George was excited to try out GHTP Max\'d on his favorite handheld. The verdict? Well, you\'ll have to read the review for that.

news | 01/31/06 | Shawn Rider
Guilty Gear Judgement is the second Guilty Gear title set for release this Spring. This time, developer Arc System Works will take the series to Sony\'s powerful PSP handheld. Guilty Gear Judgement is actually a two-fer: The disc will include both Guilty Gear X2 # Reload, which has been out since 2004 for Xbox, as well as an original side-scrolling adventure game, Guilty Gear Judgement. That\'s a lot of gameplay in a handheld package, and with WiFi cooperative multiplayer and versus modes, Guilty Gear Judgement on PSP could be the Guilty Gear title to choose.

Nintendo in 2006: Reggie Speaks, Promises Resolutions
news | 01/20/06 | Chris Martin
Reggie Fils-Aime, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Nintendo of America, likes to make huge claims, like comparing the sales of a handheld to the sales of a home console. Still, when it comes charisma, Reg has it in spades. In a recent News.com interview, the Big N\'s Big Man affirmed the company\'s commitment to doing things differently in the New Year, including releasing their next-gen system at a lower price point than the other two major console-makers. Videogame Industry Tops $10.5 Billion
news | 01/16/06 | Shawn Rider
As reported by GameDaily Biz, NPD Funworld calculates the videogame industry\'s take last year at around $10.5 billion. It looks like games have reached a major milestone, and that is thanks to some (possibly) surprising trends in 2005: portable gaming and female gamers. Sure, the Xbox 360 launch was a major boost to the industry in Q4, but the success of the industry in a highly transitional year (new console launches are never great for software sales) is attributed to handheld gaming and female gamers. Mario Kart DS Review
game: Mario Kart DS
review | 11/24/05 | George Holomshek
Mario Kart is the OG Kart racer: It is the standard by which all other kart racing games have been judged, and that looks unlikely to change. Mario Kart DS brings the game to Nintendo\'s newest handheld platform, and adds online multiplayer for the first time ever. NDS owners have been hyped about this one, and the hype was justified, according to our resident Nintendophile, George, who took Mario Kart DS on a spin around the block for us.

Maker of DS Trojan Apologizes
game: Nintendo DS
news | 10/17/05 | Aaron Stanton
The creator of Trojan.DSBrick.A and B, Trojans that disable the Nintendo DS when installed, has issued a public apology. The Brick Trojan seeks out and deletes key system files from Nintendo\'s handheld, rendering it near worthless, or Bricked. Average DS owners have nothing to fear, since the Trojan can\'t spread without the active involvement of the user, but fellow members of the homebrew community have been in an uproar over the issue. DarkFader posted a public apology, along with instructions on how to repair a DS destroyed by the Trojan (to the best of our ability) on his website.
